Many children in Malawi grow up without proper toys. “We would go outside after it rained and mould the clay soil into figures,” explained Rosalyn, a shoebox recipient who now encourages others to participate with Operation Christmas Child.
Renowned for the kindness of its people, Malawi has become known as “The Warm Heart of Africa”. Yet sadly, many families face economic hardship, making even simple toys a rare luxury. So for children like Rosalyn, these simple gifts are more than just toys; they are symbols of hope and love.
“I received my Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift at age 6. It contained my first real toys!” she shared. This lovingly packed symbol of God’s love meant the world to Rosalyn. “This little gift of a shoebox changed my life.” Rosalyn went on to give her life to Jesus Christ.
“The shoebox helped me realise that God is for children, too, not just adults,” Rosalyn said. “I continued to learn more about Him, and at age 11, my relationship with Jesus truly began.”
