Deliver Hope:

Empower and Protect Women at Risk in Vietnam

In many areas around the world, women endure abandonment, exploitation, and abuse. This breaks God’s heart—and ours.

That’s why Samaritan’s Purse runs abuse prevention programmes, supports maternal health, provides vocational skills training, and much more—so that we can bring physical, emotional, and spiritual aid to those who need it most.

Today, will you protect and empower women at risk in Jesus’ Name? Your gift could equip women like Chao Me Menh with skills and resources to save mothers and babies in Vietnam.

Chao Me Menh’s Story—Equipped to Save Lives

When teenage mum, Dai, went into labour in the middle of the night, her baby was in a dangerous breech position. Situations like this can be life-threatening in the remote highlands of Vietnam, where emergency services are hours away.

With no time to lose, a local woman named Chao Me Menh—trained as a Traditional Birth Attendant by Samaritan’s Purse—helped deliver the baby at a nearby clinic. But the newborn wasn’t breathing.

“Thank you, Samaritan’s Purse, for equipping me with knowledge to help my people.”

Thankfully, Menh had been trained through the Samaritan’s Purse Safe Motherhood programme—equipping her with life-saving skills for situations like this. She acted quickly, using a manual ventilation technique to open the baby’s lungs.

Moments later, the tiny cry of new life filled the room.

“I was scared to death,” Dai shared, holding her now six-year-old daughter close. “Menh worked hard to save my baby’s life. I am forever grateful to her.”

Protect and Empower

Chao Me Menh is just one of more than 150 Traditional Birth Attendants that Samaritan’s Purse has trained in Vietnam since 2013. This network has reached thousands of isolated pregnant mothers and helped deliver a whole generation of children.

Watch the video below to find out more about this work and how it is equipping women like Menh to save lives and serve vulnerable women and children in their communities. But our work in Vietnam doesn’t stop there.

We are also providing essential hygiene supplies, running workshops to prevent child sexual abuse, giving training in maternal and infant care, and much more.

In the last year alone, our child sexual abuse prevention workshops have engaged a total of 1,661 caregivers. These sessions safeguard against abuse by improving knowledge and awareness of risky scenarios, as well as teaching preventative actions that can be taken to protect children.

Reaching Women in Need

In Vietnam and around the world, Samaritan’s Purse is supporting women and girls facing extreme vulnerability—from lack of healthcare, to risk of exploitation, to victims of abuse.

Our heart is to protect and empower these women and girls to build a brighter future for themselves and their families. With your support, we can:

  • Prevent abuse before it starts
  • Provide critical maternal and infant care
  • Restore dignity and hope to women made in God’s image

Our prayer is that through these programmes, many women would experience the love and care of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
