Samaritan’s Purse has been providing disaster relief for over 50 years. Most recently we have deployed field hospitals in Italy and New York to care for patients suffering from COVID-19.
Due to existing supply contacts from our established disaster relief work, we have begun to source PPE equipment quickly and cost-effectively, and with an assurance of high quality, and give this to those caring for our communities in food banks, care homes and homeless shelters. Just £4.48 could supply 10 FFP1 masks to keep a Good Samaritan safe.
We are utilising our international supply chain to provide face masks, gloves and sanitiser, for free, to key workers who are helping to meet the needs of communities across the UK. We are asking for support to be able to source more PPE and offer as many Good Samaritan’s the protection they need to care for the vulnerable across the country.
05-05-2020 Update: We have already received requests for support from 206 projects across the country who need vital PPE to continue to feed the homeless, run food banks, support staff in care homes, befriend and provide care packages for those with mental health issues and so much more. Please help.
Our church runs the local foodbank. Whilst it has been running for a number of years, we have seen demand increase dramatically during this period at the same time as donations of food have decreased significantly due to restrictions. We simply do not have the budget to purchase essential PPE supplies for volunteers who are gathering at the church to prepare food parcels, coming into contact with all who are using the service.
Just £4.48 could supply 10 FFP1 masks meaning a days food distribution was able to be made with less risk of infection.
