Samaritan’s Purse, the international relief organisation headed by Franklin Graham is preparing an airlift of life-saving relief supplies to Indonesia, following the deadly earthquake and tsunami.
The Christian organisation already has a team of disaster response specialists on the ground in Indonesia preparing to distribute supplies.
Samaritan’s Purse is deploying its DC-8 aircraft from North Carolina (US) along with chartering further aircraft from Dubai. The aircraft will contain heavy-duty tarp, water filtration units, cooking kits and hygiene supplies.
The DC-8 aircraft has seen multiple deployments to recent international disasters, including transporting over 985 tons of supplies to the Caribbean following Hurricanes Maria and Irma.
Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse said; “I was in Indonesia after the 2004 tsunami, so I know what the survivors are going through. The next few days are critical, and we are doing all we can to rush help to those who need it the most,”. Graham continued, “We will be partnering with local churches in the affected areas. Pray that they will be a strong witness for the Gospel in the midst of this great tragedy”.
