For almost 40 years the heart of Franklin Graham and the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse have been focused on the urgency of the Gospel, the integrity of God’s word, and the compassion of Jesus Christ for those who are suffering. As our mission statement affirms, we provide spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world—victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. Working in over 100 countries worldwide we have and will continue to provide relief to people regardless of race, religion or sexuality, in Jesus’ Name.

In recent days, Mr. Graham has been criticized in the U.K. for comments he made in a radio interview with Focus on the Family. In listening to the original conversation it is clear that the ‘enemy’ Mr. Graham was referring to is Satan and not gay people, certainly not children. This is not the first time Mr. Graham’s words are taken out of context, and it will not be the last.

After the U.S. Supreme Court issued a new ruling on the definition of marriage, Mr. Graham expressed the following: “We who call ourselves followers of Christ must strive to love others with the same love He has shown us—even when we have fundamentally different beliefs about such matters as the definition of marriage. I believe that all people are entitled to respect and are within the reach of God’s love; but I do not believe any of us is entitled to rearrange God’s divine order for the universe and its inhabitants—all of which He created and sent His Son to die for.”

Mr. Graham recently said, “Every person on earth shares one thing in common—we are all sinners according to the God who made us. God created us, and He loves us—even more than we can imagine… There is also sin involving the misuse of sex. God created sex and gave it to us to enjoy, but tells us in His Holy Word that it is to be reserved for a marriage relationship between a man and a woman. Any kind of sexual activity or sexual relationship outside of that is sin. The world would like to redefine marriage and other boundaries for sex, but it’s not up to us to define. Almighty God, the Creator, set the standard at the beginning of time. The enemies of God would like for you to be deceived, but God wants the best for your life; He wants us to know the truth. God wants all of us to be with Him in heaven in eternity—but our sins block the way.”

Please know that nothing has changed at Samaritan’s Purse either in what we do or why we do it. Our mission demands that we proclaim the Gospel, demonstrate Biblical integrity, serve with excellence, walk in bold faith, and respond with compassionate action.

We appreciate your comments and are thankful for the ways that you have partnered with us. Thank you for your continued prayers.
