London Marathon 2021

The Virgin Money London Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 3 October.  If you are interested in joining our cheer team on the day, or running the 2022 London Marathon for Samaritan’s Purse, please contact our fundraising team: donorministries@samaritans-purse.org.uk

Here are some of our brave supporters who have committed themselves to training and running all 26.2 miles of the course for Samaritan’s Purse!

“I have kindly been given a charity place at the Virgin Money London Marathon in October for Operation Christmas Child. Putting myself forward to run a 26-miler, having never run a real race before now will be the biggest challenge of my life.

Having a charity place for Operation Christmas Child means the world – raising the profile of this special charity in my community will help children and families make a difference by hopefully supporting me in achieving this huge personal goal to make my dad proud whilst giving to children in need around the world with the aim to raise £2,000.

So if you can give a little and support me in my journey would be amazing. ❤️❤️❤️”

Nick Cole

Nick Cole and Kevin Tolhurst ran the Tonbridge Half Marathon to raise funds for Operation Christmas Child in 2016

Nick Cole chatted to a beaming teenager who had just received a shoebox gift at a Malawi outreach event in 2019.

I’m running to raise funds for Operation Christmas Child‘s partners in Romania to buy large tents to safely gather children for outreach events where they will receive shoebox gifts and then return for The Greatest Journey Bible discovery classes each week for several months after receiving their shoeboxes.

I’m privileged to work full-time for a project I love; promoting Operation Christmas Child here in the UK as a staff member with Samaritan’s Purse. So I’m excited to run the London marathon this year as a way of equipping amazing, committed volunteer leaders in Romania.

“We lost our amazing Nanny Miller, during the first Covid lockdown, after a short but heart-breaking battle with liver cancer. Before retiring, she worked as a teaching assistant at Stanley Special School on Wirral and was determined that every child should have the best start in life.

For many years Nan made and donated shoe boxes to the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Appeal. All year round she would buy dolls from local charity shops, clean them up and knit them pretty dresses to include them in the boxes.

Nan won’t be here to make the boxes this year, but we are hoping her memory can raise enough money to support the charity’s continued work.”
