Events Team's FAQs

How old do I need to be?

We welcome all age groups from 18 years and older. It’s also important that you are fit and healthy and able to be on your feet for a good proportion of the day.

How many (work) days do I need to commit to?

The length of the events we attend varies from 2 to 5 days. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a full break at events if possible. i.e. at Spring Harvest Minehead 1 consists of 5 days, Big Church Day Out is 2 days (at the weekend).

How long will my working hours be and will I be able to experience the event?

We are keen for our event volunteers to have the opportunity to enjoy the event and have time away from the stand. We do ask that you are also prepared to be flexible as some days can be busier than others. Our intention is that we will work shifts on any given day - 2 hours on and 2 hours off.

Will I receive training?

We want you to feel equipped, comfortable and empowered to represent Samaritan’s Purse well. We therefore ask volunteers to attend a training session. We will inform you of a training date well in advance.

Do I need to ask people for money?

We want the excitement and passion of our volunteers to be infectious for potential supporters, and thereby encourage them to get involved with the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, through Prayer, volunteering or making a regular or one off gift. We will cover this with you during the training session.

Will Samaritan’s Purse contribute to my expenses?

We don’t want you to be out of pocket when volunteering for us. Expenses reasonably incurred in the course of achieving the event activities will be reimbursed, and as much as possible will be agreed in advance. These include: accommodation, travel expenses and all event onsite meals.

What should I bring / wear?

We will provide you with an event brief in the run up to the event including details of what to bring, what to wear etc. We will provide you with a branded T or Polo shirt for event volunteering days.

I’ve handed in my application form – what happens next?

We will get back to you within 3 weeks of receiving your application form. If you have been selected for an interview, we will then process your references and schedule a telephone interview when it’s convenient for you.
