Homes for Ukraine – Refuge Homes For Ukrainians in the UK

Are you or your family trying to come to the UK?

The UK government has launched the “Homes for Ukraine” scheme, and Samaritan’s Purse aims to assist active members of our Operation Christmas Child (OCC) project Ukraine network, or an immediate family member in this process.

What is the Homes for Ukraine scheme?

The scheme enables Ukrainian refugees to come to the UK more quickly with sponsorship by many willing British families.  UK families are already volunteering to accommodate Ukrainians in their homes and other properties for a minimum of six months.

Ukrainian nationals and their immediate family who were resident in Ukraine prior to 1 January 2022 will be eligible.

Those arriving under this UK Government scheme will be able to:

  • Live and work in the UK for up to three years
  • Access healthcare, benefits, employment support, education, and English language tuition

How can Samaritan’s Purse help you to take advantage of this UK Government scheme?

We aim to help match those who would like to come to the UK with sponsors from our Operation Christmas Child partner churches in the UK. Once matched, both you and the sponsor must be approved through the government scheme.

We also aim to support travel and relocations costs.

To be eligible to come to the UK with the assistance of Samaritans Purse UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme you must:

  • Have a valid Ukrainian passport or an expired passport with a valid extension
  • Have been living in the Ukraine on or immediately before the 1st January 2022
  • Be a Ukrainian citizen or immediate family of a Ukrainian citizen*
  • Be an active member of the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Ukraine network, or an immediate family member*.

*An immediate family member is a spouse, a child who is under 18 or a parent
