To support the plans of Samaritan’s Purse International (SPI) for continued sustainable growth, we are seeking to appoint a Direct Marketing Officer to create, manage and deliver key elements of our Development and Retention Programme. This is with the aim of increasing net income, developing and retaining SPI Donors through proactive and planned communications, and meeting agreed objectives, timeframes and budgets through a variety of different channels and propositions. The Direct Marketing Officer will play a key role in facilitating the achievement of the Development Department objectives while supporting and embracing the Christian ethos and purposes of the organisation.

JOB PROFILE

  • Prepare and agree campaign strategies to meet specific objectives
  • Play a key project management role for a number of fundraising activities
  • Prepare and agree briefs and supporting documentation for specified campaigns
  • Ensure all supporter communications are consistent with the SPI brand, and work alongside other departments to develop coordinated and effective messages
  • Oversee the delivery of specified campaigns from initial brief to post campaign analysis
  • Work alongside other departments to ensure campaigns are set up correctly with regard to coding and fulfilment in order to facilitate accurate results reporting
  • Set up effective results monitoring and evaluation reporting, and utilise this data to make recommendations on strategy development
  • Take an active role in the preparation of annual plans, budgets, and detailed activity plans

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants should have:
  • Proven experience in a similar fundraising and/or marketing role
  • Proven and significant experience of planning, executing and project managing multi-faceted supporter development campaigns
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluating and analysing complex data against a range of KPI’s
  • Experience of using a Customer Relationship database, such as The Raiser’s Edge
  • Proven experience of sourcing, managing, negotiating and liaising with suppliers
  • Excellent written, communication and numeracy skills; strong copy writing and proof reading skills
  • Ability to use spreadsheets to formulate and analyse data, and make informed decisions
  • A good understanding of fundraising principles and of legislation related to direct marketing/data protection issues
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently to manage varying competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team, developing and maintaining successful working relationships
  • Commitment to the Christian values of the organisation; empathy with overseas development issues
  • Knowledge and qualification in a vocational or specialised field, short of Degree Level, for example, HNC/HND (NVQ-4) or equivalent experience. Five GCSE/’O’ levels or equivalent at grades A*, A or B, including Maths and English Language

Ideally, we would also request that you:

  • Have a recognised Fundraising or Direct Marketing qualification
  • Have proven experience of delivering digital direct marketing campaigns
  • Are educated to Degree standard
