YOU CAN PROTECT & EMPOWER WOMEN ACROSS AFRICA AND SOUTHEAST ASIA

WOMEN AT RISK PROGRAMME

Here's How

Do you believe that all women and girls should have the opportunity to survive and thrive leading healthy and dignified lives? Women make up more than half of the world’s population, they do two-thirds of the work and represent 70% of the world’s poor. Yet women all over the world face the dark reality of abandonment, exploitation, and abuse.

We can partner together to reach the most vulnerable of women and girls by mobilising communities to take action for the issues they are facing and find solutions. In 2015 we met the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and girls by offering training and education to 17,000 families equipping them with life-saving information. Together we are better, we can continue to restore the respect, honour and dignity every woman deserves.

Maternal & Child Health [MCH]

Millions of women and girls and their children are either dying from preventable diseases or are left affected by a health situation resulting in long term effects on their daily lives. This is either because they lack basic knowledge about lifesaving health issues, or don’t have the access to or don’t use health care facilities. Together we can offer simple, vital education that can save lives:

  • Improving the health of mothers, new-borns and children through community based activities that are focused on the promotion of improved health practices and care-seeking behaviour through community care groups.
  • Equip and empower women with pertinent knowledge and skills and contribute to changing attitudes and behaviour.
  • Strengthen links between communities and the local health systems.

Violence Against Women and Girls

Women and girls are living in fear, as a result of domestic violence, female genital mutilation, rape, dowry death and other forms of violence against them. No woman or girl should be living with such fear and pain; together we can respond to this issue by:

  • Training local faith leaders on how to prevent and address the issues surrounding GBV (gender based violence) as well as design strategies to overcome GBV within their communities.
  • Empowering women and girls to know their rights and opportunities to make healthy decisions.
  • Empowering Communities in particular women, through vocational training, micro-finance linked to employment creation in order to protect them from being tempted or lured into the fate of trafficking.
  • Increasing awareness and dissemination of information on the issues surrounding GBV among women, girls and their families in the communities and regions where they live.
