WE ARE WORKING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BORDER TO PROVIDE HELP IN JESUS’ NAME.

As waves of desperate migrants arrive on the sweltering border between Mexico and Texas, Samaritan’s Purse is working on both sides of the Rio Grande to help them in the Name of Jesus Christ.

“Some of these people have been travelling for months and they have been through so much,” said Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham. “Samaritan’s Purse has teams on the border right now, and we are working with churches, evangelical Christian partners, and local officials to help alleviate the suffering of as many as we can.”

Weather along the border is unbearably hot, with temperatures up to 43 degrees.

On the U.S. side, Samaritan’s Purse is working in Del Rio, Laredo, and other communities to provide water, food, and other emergency supplies at transit centres for those who have been cleared by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection authorities to enter the United States.

A local pastor and his wife in Laredo have opened their home to more than 100 exhausted migrants daily. We have helped them with mattresses and a refrigerator and are preparing to set up tents so they will have more space and shade.

In Del Rio, where 70 to 120 migrants are passing through daily, we are bringing in a kitchen trailer to prepare meals and helping to provide clothing, hygiene supplies, and access to phones.

Chaplains from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association are on the border praying with and encouraging those providing care.

More than 8,000 migrants per day—men, women, and children—are arriving at the border as they flee poverty and lawlessness in their homelands. They have nowhere to stay and no way to feed and care for their children. Some are living in makeshift shelters on city streets in Mexico.

As we follow the example of the Good Samaritan, please pray that God will work through our teams and partners along the border to show these suffering people how much He loves them, giving us opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel.

Your gift to Samaritan’s Purse will enable us to meet the critical needs of migrants in the days to come.
