Samaritan’s Purse is helping Christians, Kurds, and other minorities who are fleeing after Turkey launched an invasion of northeastern Syria.

Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing northern Syria after Turkey invaded the area last week. The fighting has been fierce in this rugged region where there are some Christian villages that go back nearly 2,000 years.

Already there are many reports of atrocities that have occurred, and Samaritan’s Purse is responding in Jesus’ Name to deliver urgently needed supplies including plastic tarps for temporary shelter, medicine, cooking provisions, warm blankets, and clothing as a cold winter looms ahead.

Samaritan’s Purse has been working in the Middle East for decades. For instance, in neighbouring northern Iraq, our country office provides a variety of projects to serve the needs of displaced people.

Please pray for the many Christians, Kurds, and other minorities who are caught in the middle of this escalating conflict. Pray for God’s protection as they flee everything they’ve known, and head into an uncertain future.

Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham has posted several times on Facebook regarding the situation in northern Syria. On 14th October, he wrote:

“Samaritan’s Purse is responding as tens of thousands of Kurdish people, Christians, and other minorities are fleeing after Turkey launched an invasion into Syria with its armed forces and Islamic jihadist mercenaries. We will be sending winter clothing, blankets, tarps for temporary shelter, and other relief items. My prayer is that God will guide our President and Congress to make the right decisions that would alleviate further suffering and bloodshed. Pray for those fleeing and for our teams as we respond.”
