The children who have survived Ebola, yet witnessed such tragedy and loss, now need hope for the future. Will you help us today to give them that hope?
“The anticipation was almost unbearable. All the medical personnel gathered around the plastic table in the Ebola isolation centre, that had a white board with the status of all the patients. We had just heard that the results of the blood samples of various patients were available.”

In just nine months between May 2014 and February 2015, 9,860 people in Liberia were infected with the Ebola virus and over 4,400 people died; children accounted for one fifth of all confirmed cases. It could be said that things are now returning to normal in Liberia; but in reality, things are far from normal.

This year we want to make it possible for 18,000 children in Liberia to go on The Greatest Journey.

During the Ebola crisis, the country’s infrastructure collapsed, critical medical services struggled to cope, social care evaporated, schools closed and there were food shortages. According to UNICEF, thousands of children witnessed their mother, father or family member dying from Ebola. These orphans needed special attention and support, yet few found it.

The local churches in Liberia now have a vital role to play in rebuilding communities; a key priority is nurturing and healing these children so that they no longer feel rejected. While there will be many initiatives taking place to achieve this, we believe that the most important one is restoring hope for the future, bringing Jesus into their lives so that they can know His love and His plans for their lives.

The Greatest Journey comprises 12 fun-filled lessons that take children on a creative and interactive journey through the Bible, teaching them the message of Jesus and of His love for them. Each child receives a New Testament Bible at the end of the course that they can treasure forever.

Millions of children around the world have found healing, hope and salvation through The Greatest Journey; attending the classes has given them the chance to consider what they have experienced in life through the eyes of a heavenly Father who loves them.
