JOIN WITH US IN PRAYING FOR THE MIDDLE EAST, WITH SPECIAL GUESTS PASTOR SAMI DAGHER, MATT & SARAH NOWERY, PASTOR JONATHAN OLODYEDE AND LOU FELLINGHAM
In the summer of 2014 approximately 1.3 million Iraqis were forced to leave their homes due to violence, and to seek refuge in Kurdish-controlled areas after ISIS militants captured several cities in western Iraq. Among them were traditional Christians who, faced with the prospect of a convert-or-die ultimatum, were given just minutes to escape their homes in the Mosul area, on the Nineveh plains. Many of these displaced families are now living in traditional United Nations refugee camps, but just as many are also taking shelter in unfinished or abandoned buildings, parks, malls, schools, and churches.
Our keynote speaker will be Pastor Sami Dagher, a senior church leader from the region. Pastor Sami has been ministering in the Middle East for many decades, preaching, planting Churches, starting a Bible College and providing aid. In June 2014, together with Samaritan’s Purse, he began providing shelter, food, clothing and more to families fleeing from Islamic militants. Just as important, he also provided support to local ministry partners throughout the region as they brought physical relief in Jesus’ Name to suffering people.
Our special guests also include Matt and Sarah Nowery, Samaritan’s Purse Country Directors in Iraq; Pastor Jonathan Oloyede, who will guide us in prayer and Lou Fellingham who will be leading us in worship.
