The Greatest Journey is a ministry to children which has been conceived and developed by Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, embodying both organisations’ purposes of Evangelism, discipleship and training.
The mission of The Greatest Journey is to help local churches reach children with the Gospel, to establish them in their faith with Jesus Christ and to equip them to pray for and share the Gospel with their family and friends.
Through The Greatest Journey discipleship programme, boys and girls can become faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Samaritan’s Purse developed The Greatest Journey as a dynamic, interactive Bible study for use in countries around the world where Operation Christmas Child distributes gift-filled shoeboxes. Wherever possible, children receiving shoeboxes are invited to enrol on The Greatest Journey; 4.7 million children have enrolled on this programme since the curriculum was first developed in 2008.
Shamira, a 13-year old girl who lives near the shores of Lake Victoria in the heart of Africa, gave her heart to Jesus after she heard the Gospel presented at one of our Operation Christmas Child shoebox distributions and then enrolled in The Greatest Journey through our local church partner. She said the lessons have ‘really helped me to grow spiritually and opened my eyes. Many of my friends have also come to the Lord and have joined the church through my witness to them.’ We praise God for these powerful results and for each soul saved.
The Greatest Journey is one of the most dynamic investments being made in local churches overseas. In addition to providing training for teachers and all course materials for teachers and children, children completing the 12-lesson curriculum receive a New Testament Bible. All training and provision of resources (in local language) is provided to churches overseas free of charge.
£4 can provide teacher training and all printed materials, including a New Testament Bible, for one child.
Disciple a Dozen! A monthly gift of £4 by Direct Debit will enable a new child every month to be discipled by our church partners.
As we look forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, there is nothing more urgent than reaching as many people as possible with the message of the Cross. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). That’s why we have set a goal to enrol 20 million children in The Greatest Journey over the next five years.
As God leads, would you help us reach a new generation with the Good News?
