Teams - FAQs
Q. What is the minimum age someone has to be to go on a team's trip if not already specified?
A. We take anyone between the ages of 16-75. This is currently for travel insurance purposes.
Q. If I am offered a place on a team do I need to take out my own travel insurance?
A. You do not need your own travel insurance as you will be covered by Samaritans Purse travel insurance which is very extensive
Q. Do you have to be a Christian/ go to church to be accepted onto a team's trip?
A. You do not need to be a Christian or attend church on a regular basis. We do ask that you recognise that Samaritans Purse is a Christian charity and that you are willing to adhere to our guidelines and ethose. If offered a place on a team, team members will be expected to take part in team activites this may involve attending church and daily devotions.
Q. Do I need to have an up to date CRB check to go on the trips?
A. For most teams you will not need to have a CRB check done. For the few teams that require a CRB check, we will send you the various paperwork in order to undergo this check, once you have been offered a place on a team.
Q. Are there any bursaries or financial aides for people with low income that wish to join a team's trip?
A. We do understand that a teams trip is not cheap and therefore encourage team members to fundraise as much as possible. If you still think you will struggle with meeting the cost we ask that you speak in confidence with the Teams Manager who can talk you through the options that may be of assistance.
Q. Can I apply for a place along with my spouse?
A. We do take couples although special allowances cannot always be made. For instance you will need to be prepared to to sleep in single sex rooms and share rooms with other team members.

A. The amount advertised as the minimum donation covers all costs that incur for your trip such, travel insurance, food, accommodation, transport and training costs. flight costs are added on top of this. Other costs are also incurred in running the Discovery Teams programme which Samaritans Purse contributes to and therefore you are not oblidged to cover. You will however be required to pay for your own visa and vaccinations if needed and your own travel within the UK to get to and from airports/ training venues.
Q. Will I need to apply for a visa?
A. In most cases you will be required to get your own visa. In a few exceptional cases Samaritans Purse may act on the teams behalf. In these cases information will be supplied on application and/ or at orientation training.
Q. My passport expires shortly after the trip ends, is this ok?
A. Youre passport will need to be valid for a least 6 months from the date that you return.
