Jumping for joy in Liberia
Japlo, from Gbarpolu county in Liberia, has literally had her life turned around...by a pair of rabbits.
When she first received them as part of a Samaritan’s Purse livelihoods project, her husband had just passed away and she had no way of supporting herself and her three children.
But a year later, her rabbits had produced ten offspring, allowing her to give three rabbits back to the church-based livelihood project and sell seven rabbits to help pay for her children to go back to school.
What’s more, she has been able to learn about animal rearing and catch-up on basic literacy and numeracy with other women in the project.
"I'm very thankful for the opportunity to raise rabbits on my own," Japlo says," and I'm excited about where I can sell my rabbits".
With all these new opportunities bubbling up, no wonder Japlo is literally jumping for joy.
